Project Completion - Livelihood programme for tribal people

ACDS successfully completed its two years long Wooden toy cluster development project in Shahdol and Sheopur, tribal districts of Madhya Pradesh in September 2011. The project was an initiative under MPRLP in association with DFID. The objective of the project was to provide a sustainable livelihood to the lowest strata of the district. Under the project skill development trainings were provided to 250 persons, so that the living standards of the families can be uplifted, this also addresses mission 2020 poverty eradication programme. We trained them in wooden toy making and strengthen their backward and forward linkage. After completion of training each artisan got certification from Hasth Shilp Vikas Nigam, Bhopal.
Due to the project, the trained artisans have now earnings of more than Rs. 6000 per month. Presently all the SHGs which were formed during the project have now federated into an association, which got working capital as well as infrastructure support from SGSY. The association is now eligible to get loans from the regional rural bank. The effort of ACDS has bored fruits in the form of sustainable livelihood for the tribal peoples, which has brought smile on the faces of these tribal people.
